Bright green.

‘Eco-friendly’ was once a novelty feature, an optional extra. While some still consider it to remain so, we beg to differ. We work closely with clients from the outset to implement energy-efficient, low-impact solutions at every opportunity. Not only that, but key staff are accredited professionals with the Green Building Council of Australia.

Accreditation with the Green Building Council of Australia means we’re perfectly equipped to support our projects with the most up-to-date information. We regularly advise tenants on how to achieve a green-star rating for their fitout – whether they wish to have it rated for a specific reason, or simply for peace of mind. Our environmental recommendations, however, are not just reserved for tenants: we have created a considerable saving on energy bills, for example, at properties where we have specified T5 or T8 lighting, installing CBUS systems with light sensors for base building amenities and open floors, while switching to LED lighting in common areas.  This means the financial savings happily coincide with an increase in energy efficiency within their base building services.

Other services include:

  • Low energy mechanical and electrical conceptual design
  • Advice on low impact fitouts
  • Full computer modelling (energy, daylight, glare, natural ventilation, thermal comfort, PMV)
  • Sustainability assessments and ratings (BREEAM, Green Star)
  • Energy assessments (ABGR)
  • Energy water and waste audits
  • Due diligence surveys
  • Risk assessments
  • Waste reports
  • Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
  • Material selection advice
  • Costing of capex and open option

Green Building Council of Australia.

Established in 2002, the GBCA’s mission is to develop sustainability within the Australian property industry. This is achieved through a variety of measures, including the widely-adopted Green Star environmental rating system, professional courses and event organisation.

Since its inception, the Green Building Council of Australia has certified more than 130 buildings around the country. The first rating was awarded in 2004 to 8 Brindabella Circuit at Canberra Airport, followed by, amongst others, Trevor Pearcey House – the refurbished facility of Australian Ethical Investments. This 6 Green Star certified building cost a total of $1.7 million to renovate, with the end result producing an estimated 75% reduction in CO2 emissions, a 75% reduction in water usage and used over 80% recycled materials. All of these factors were taken into account in awarding the rating. Overall, however, what are the ratings based on? Nine key environmental impact categories are assessed before the result is calculated:Management, Indoor Environment Quality, Energy, Transport, Water, Materials, Land Use and Ecology, Emissions and Innovation.

So why bother with the ratings system in the first place? Many of our clients are genuinely motivated to help reduce environmental impact, as well as improving the health and wellbeing of occupants, but achieving a Green Star rating also has many added bonuses. Not only does the prestigious accreditation assist in increased occupant productivity, but it also achieves considerable cost savings through energy efficiency, while also acting as a powerful showcasing tool for innovative and conscientious sustainable practices.
